EMERGENCIES

Tel: 01268 753591

Monday to Friday 8.00am - 6.30pm

At times when the Surgery is closed, you will need to contact NHS111 who will direct you to the most appropriate setting for your need at the time - this may be advice only for some minor conditions, facility to speak to an on call Doctor, or for the more urgent matters advice to go to the nearest A&E centre.

PLEASE DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY ATTEND A&E FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN AN ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY (as the title suggests!)

Accident & Emergency (A&E)
Major A&E departments assess and treat patients who have serious injuries or illnesses. Generally, you should visit A&E or call 999 for emergencies, such as:

  • loss of consciousness,
  • pain that is not relieved by simple analgesia,
  • acute confused state,
  • persistent, severe chest pain, or
  • breathing difficulties.

A&E is intended for “Emergency” situations only – it is not a substitute for your GP who should normally be contacted in the first instance (or NHS111 the free NHS phone line) for all but emergencies.
Our local A&E centre is at Southend Hospital, Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff on Sea. SS0 0RY

Major A&E departments offer access 365 days a year and usually open 24 hours a day. Be aware that not all hospitals have an A&E department.
