Full Time Doctor

Part Time Practice Nurses

 

Sister Heather Cannon, RGN, RMN

Sister Emma Townsend, RGN

Both provide a full range of nursing skills (dressings, wound care, blood tests, injections, immunisations, ear syringing, cervical smears, breast examination, and 'well person' checks).

They undertake care of conditions such as High blood pressure, Asthma and Diabetes jointly with the Doctors and give help and advice on a wide range of simple medical problems.

Nurse Heather Cannon is a Nurse Practitioner and you can see her for a wider range of medical problems.  She is able to prescribe and you may be able to see her instead of a GP (please ask at Reception).

 

Part Time Receptionists

Miriam,Sue, Casey & Beverly will try to meet all your needs, but they are not responsible for busy times when the Doctor is running late. Sometimes there are no routine appointments at a time convenient to you! When they give information or ask for medical details their actions are strictly as guided by the Doctor and Practice Manager.

 

Practice Manager

Jill Lewis, looks after the day to day administration of the practice.

 

Secretary

Wendy Potts, deals with all clinical communications, letters and referrals 


Community Nurses

Community Nurses are attached to the Practice to care for the nursing needs of any housebound patients.


Health Visitor

Cares for young children both at home and at the clinics.

 

Care Navigation 

 

You may have noticed that we now ask for a brief outline of your problem when you call to make an appointment at the Surgery.. This is a new approach that we call Care Navigation.

Through specialist training, our team can now offer more choice on who to see in the practice and help you get to the right health professional fast. Our receptionists never offer clinical advice or triage; this is about offering you the choice to see other specialists in our practice team if they have the expertise to deal with your problem; often quicker and without the need to see the GP each time.

By working this way, it helps us to free up time for GPs to care for our patients with complex or serious health conditions. More importantly though, it means you are seen by the clinician that is best placed to deal with your problem each time you visit us.

You are able to see Mercy Banning, our Clinical Pharmacist for medication reviews or you can speak to her on the phone if you have a medication query.  She is also able to prescribe medication for you.  Nurse Practictioner Heather Cannon is our senior Nurse who is also able to prescribe.  She can see you for most problems that you would see a GP for.  Practice Nurse Emma Townsend sees patients with chronic conditions like Asthma or COPD.  She also does all of our baby /child vaccinations and  all routine Nurse appointments.  Nurse Terri Burtonshaw-Walker is able to see you for all routine Nurse appointments plus travel vaccinations.  We have an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Kymm Monkhouse who will visit housebound patients with long term conditions .  She is also able to see patients with long term conditions in the Surgery on Wednesday mornings.  If you require a home visit, you will most likely be visited by an Emergency Care Practitioner in the first instance.  We have 2 ECP’s Lohit and Erin who are available for home visits each day.

 

 CHAPERONE POLICY

 

This organisation is committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance.

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. This chaperone may be a family member or friend. On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a trained member of staff.

Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking appointment so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request. However occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy
